This President Doesn't Deserve America

George W. Bush doesn't deserve this country.  Nor do any of his associates or anyone in his family.

That's what it all boils down to.  I've pored over the stories, as you all have, like I did after Sept. 11.  The outpouring of concern, offers of shelter and money, the helpless frustration expressed by all the kind-hearted people of this land have been the only consolation here.  To feel the sense of common interest and compassion is overwhelming.

Right now my gratitude at being able to live in such a miraculous place overrides my anger at our political system.

I just wish we had a leader right now who deserved the people of this great nation.

Instead we have someone who doesn't have the sense to get his ass back to the office in anticipation of a long-awaited threat, who attends fundraisers and plays golf while water rises in on a stranded city.

Four days.  Four long, frightening, hot, stinking days for people all along the Gulf coast to wait for supplies and shelter.  It is shameful.  I know I don't have to tell you all that.

It should never have to come this kind of chaos.  When leaders of this country have the imagination to understand what it must be like to go hungry or thirsty, or have to sleep in a car or amid strangers in the dark, these things don't reach a critical point.  Our current "leadership" cannot lead in a time of hardships they cannot imagine.

Thank goodness there are enough people in this land who can imagine who will fill the leadership void.

This President doesn't deserve America.
